Work Reshuffle, GOOD TV, Crushed Ice
May 1, 2026

Hi buds,
It's been a busy month, primarily due to chaos at work. I'm in the process of switching teams to work on a different project. This is both Good and Bad. I loved my team and enjoyed working them. We built the Kagi Translate apps together, which are receiving a lot of love from people. I'm proud of that. There were many things I wanted to do on the Translate project, but I will no longer be directly involved in them. That's the Bad. The Good is that I am excited about what's next. The new project has much higher stakes. It's more central to the mission. I want to craft this project with the same care and attention as Translate. I got this, I got this, I got this, I tell myself everyday.
I'm turning thirty in a few months. This month's issue was originally going to be about my thoughts and feelings about that. Unfortunately, it is 2AM on the 1st of May now and I don't want to half-ass it. So, I have taken the executive decision to push this for a future issue. For this month, I thought I could talk about things that have kept me sane through all the chaos.
- The Artemis-II mission (watch this). Rocky from Project Hail Mary. Space is the coolest.
- Nuking all my YouTube subscriptions. From 1000+ to 0. Poof. Subscriptions had accumulated over the years. This accumulation combined with enshittification of YouTube's subscriptions UI made browsing the platform so unbearable. Things are much calmer now. I am being extremely strict about what I let into my subscriptions. So far so good.
- Nighttime Reading Hour with the girlfriend to rebuild my reading habit.
- GOOD TV: About to finish The Crown, watching Euphoria as it airs each week, LOVING Abbott Elementary, and CANNOT stop watching The Pitt. Each one is a banger.
- Toast with peanut butter, topped with pomegranate. Trust.
- Farza's weekly videos. This dude's energy is so infectious.
- Premier League Football. Hype for the World Cup is growing as well. The WC being in North America will make Kick Off times in India an absolute pain though.
- Crushed ice from our new refrigerator at home.
What's keeping you sane?
More soon,
R
